General Overview of a Plant Cell

First you have the Basic Plant Cell which is surrounded by the :

CELL WALL which basically provides structure and support for the cell. The cell wall is a thin layer of cellulose and is very stiff. The cell wall surrounds the cell right out side the:

CELL MEMBRANE which also surrounds the cell, letting some things in and keeping others out. Like the cell wall, the cell membraen also gives the cell some structure. Cell membranes are made with lipid bi-layers that form a semi-permeable layer to allow transprotation in and out of the cell through DIFFUSION, OSMOSIS, ACTIVE AND PASSIVE TRANSPORT. Inside the cell- are organelles. Some of which include:

THE NUCLEUS- which basically controls the actions within the cell.

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM which carries proteims from the nuclues to other parts of the cell.

MITROCHONDRIA- the energy factories of the cell. This organelle takes glucose and oxygen to produce carbon
dioxide, water, and ATP.

GOLGI BODIES- produces and packages protiens.

CHLOROPLASTS- a pretty large andcomplex organelle that performs the function of photosynthesis inplant cells.

THE RIBOSOMES- that translate RNA into proteins.

VACUOLES: basicly any organelle with very little or no internal structure.
